Experiencing sexual abuse or assault can result in profound emotional trauma. In New Zealand, the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) provides a pathway to healing through its Sensitive Claims Service, offering fully funded support to survivors. If you or someone you care about has been affected, remember that you don’t have to face recovery alone.
What is ACC Sensitive Claims counselling?
ACC Sensitive Claims counselling is a government-funded service that supports individuals who have experienced sexual violence—whether recently or in the past. This includes:
Survivors of sexual abuse, assault, or rape
People affected by historical trauma
Visitors to New Zealand who experienced harm while here
You do not need to have reported the incident to the police to access support. Additionally, you do not need to visit your GP or any other agency. Your privacy is our top priority, and it should be and must remain a completely private and confidential matter.
What support is available?
Through ACC's Sensitive Claims service, you can access:
One-on-one therapy with an ACC-approved counsellor, psychologist, or psychotherapist.
Personalised assessment and treatment planning tailored to your needs.
Confidential and compassionate care in a safe environment.
Support with your claims process, including advocacy if needed, assistance from a social worker, and access to group therapy.

How to get started
You can begin your journey by:

If this is your first time filing a sensitive claim with ACC, rest assured, I'll be there to guide you through the process. You're not alone in this.
We start therapy once your claim is accepted (initial sessions may be covered even before approval).
Healing from sexual abuse trauma needs time, so weekly sessions will be available for you if you need them.
If you're unsure where to begin, I am here to guide you through every step.
Why work with me?
I am an ACC-registered sensitive claims therapist based in Blenheim, Marlborough, with extensive training, expertise, and experience in working with trauma. Here, you can find more information about my credentials, as well as reviews from my clients.
I use a variety of tools to guide people on their journey of healing—trauma-informed, evidence-based, and survivor-centred, tailored to the survivor's unique needs. Among them are somatic experiencing & body-based therapies, trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy (TF-CBT), eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), narrative therapy, art therapy, and mindfulness.
I offer a warm, non-judgmental space to explore your healing, flexible options including in-person and online sessions, and support for individuals, couples, and families.
